One-Day Retreat

Early in the morning, the pagoda was crowded with people. In\r\nwhich, many participants got used to the retreat while some others were brand\r\nnew. After breakfast, everyone gathered at lecturing halls following the\r\norganizer’s direction.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nExactly at 8am, in the dignified and solemn air, Venerable\r\nThich Tam Dao, Deputy Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, delivered Dharma talk with\r\nthe subject "Overcoming Misery". According to him, there were many\r\ncauses leading to human’s sufferings. After all, they were due to desire’s\r\nconfusion, craving and ignorance. In which ignorance took the vital role\r\nleading sentient beings to unhappiness. Practitioner, once understood the cause\r\nof these reasons, would be able to apply Buddha’s teachings/methods to transform\r\nsuffering into happiness and liberation.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn the afternoon, Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, after a\r\nmonth of Dharma preaching trip in US, came to meet and send his regards to\r\neveryone. He pointed out three reasons leading to this trip in US. Firstly, he\r\ncame to US to hold the retreat and deliver Dharma talk at Phuoc Hue pagoda in\r\nTacoma City, Washington State, US, based on the invitation from the Abbot,\r\nSenior Venerable Thich Phuoc Toan. Secondly, he wanted to visit a plot of land\r\nthat would be used to build Hoang Phap pagoda in Sacramento, California, US.\r\nThirdly, he visited his master, the Most Venerable Thich Thang Hoan, who used\r\nto be Vijnanaptivà da professor in Vietnam, to prepare a video clip of the Most\r\nVenerable’s life as the bright example to clergy successors. This is more\r\nlikely the expression of gratitude from the Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh to\r\nhis master.
\r\n\r\nThe short and brief sharing from the Senior Venerable has\r\nleft lots of joy to the audience. After that, the course kept on its schedule\r\nas usual.
