One Day Retreat

On Nov 19, 2017 (Oct 02, lunar calendar), despite uncomfortable weather, thousands of devout Buddhists from provinces came to Hoang Phap Pagoda for the 10th One-Day Retreat in 2017.

After breakfast, Buddhists gathered at conference halls for the Dharma talk from

Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, Head of Retreat organization. In which, he explained three reasons for his recent Buddhism trip in US. Firstly, it was the response to the invitation from Senior Venerable Thich Phuoc Toan, Abbot of Phuoc Hue pagoda in Tacoma City, Washington State, USA, who needed the support from Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh for the retreat in US. Secondly, he visited and expressed his gratefulness to the Most Venerable Thich Thang Hoan, his Abhidharma teacher several years ago.  Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh would like to make a video clip about the Most Venerable as a bright example for young clergy generations to follow. Thirdly, he visited the plot of land that would be built as a subsidiary of Hoang Phap pagoda in Sacramento, California, US to serve the mass there.

 

During this trip, the Senior Venerable talked and explained clearly about Buddhists, retreats, as well as Hoang Phap sangha and its activities to release all the concerns and queries from the mass, helping everyone have the right understanding/belief in Buddhism and Triratna. After the Dharma talk, the course kept on with Buddha’s name recitation as usual.

 

After Buddha’s name chanting in the afternoon, it was the restatement of Five precepts for lay Buddhists and sitting meditation.

 

Also in the afternoon, Venerable Thich Tri Minh came to deliver Dharma talk to Hoang Phap Dharmapala group.

 

The retreat closed in the joy of all!
