By the approval of Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Hue and devout Buddhists of the pagoda returned to Minh Chat retreat in Can Tho on Oct. 16th, 2021 (Sep. 21st, LC) to attend The 8th One-Day Retreat.
Attending the retreat were devout Buddhists in Minh Chat ashram in Can Tho city.
After breakfast, the monks guided Buddhists in the demeanor of Buddhists: how to fold hands, prostrate, salute, how to walk, recite Buddha's name, and how to make an offering. After that, the mass had the time of reciting the Buddha's name, and chanted the precepts under the instruction by the monks.
In response to the invitation, Junior Thich Tam Khiet, the monks of Hoang Phap pagoda, had a meeting to preach a Buddhadharma with the topic: "Five Precepts” (Five commandments of Buddhists). The Five Precepts are the five prohibitions that Buddha invented to prevent evil thoughts, bad speech, and unrighteous actions. Five moral precepts are not to kill, not to steal, not to commit adultery, not to lie, not to drink alcohol. These ones are five strongholds that prevent us from going astray; as five barriers that prevent us from falling into the abyss, towards the path to deliverance.
In the afternoon, the program continued to practice, sit meditation, and chant precepts, guided by the pagoda monks. After that, the mass was together offering to the souls.
Junior Thich Tam Hue paid his gratitude to the Monks for visiting and supporting the ashram. Hopefully, the retreat will be a new advance for the ashram here. Praying the Three Jewels will bless the retreat’s growth to propagate Buddha Dharma, and benefit everyone.
