One-day Retreat in Cambodia
Update: 27/10/2015
On Oct 25th, 2015 (Sept 13th, 2015 Goat Year), a branch of Hoang Phap monastery in Cambodia organized One-day Buddha Recitation for Buddhists.
With the permission of Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, the monks of Hoang Phap monastery in Vietnam went to Cambodia to support for a day of cultivation.
Over 200 good men and women in Phnom Penh capital and neighborhoods early gathered at the temple to listen to a lecture and practice one-day retreat. This time, Venerable Thich Tam Truc, Abbot of the branch of Hoang Phap pagoda in Cambodia, shared with the monks from Vietnam and Buddhists some experiences of practice and fundamental doctrines to gain the most basic knowledge in cultivation.
The main points of the sermon were the law of Cause and Effect, Refuge in the Three Jewels, and Five Precepts, which are the foundation for creating moral qualities of a person. In this era, the society is gradually fallen into loosing cultural and moral values which is obviously noticed in manner, speech and action of some youth. The teachings of the Buddha, therefore, should become the lodestar for Buddhists to study and practice.
After the lecture, there was the time of Great Fame recitation and meditative walk, and then the whole assembly had a meaningful meal. In the afternoon, the following session was to practice sitting in deep contemplation, reciting Buddha’s name and walking meditatively.
At the end of a religious day, Buddhists received a present of Dharma including a VCD of Light of Buddhism, and a book Unpredictable Danger and Bless.
