Opening Ceremony of Co Am Pagoda - Nghe An

In the morning of June 4th, 2017 (May 10th, Rooster Year), accepting the invitation of Junior Venerable Thich Tam Thanh, Senior Venerable Thich Chan and the monks from Hoang Phap Pagoda visited Co Am Pagoda, Dien Minh Commune, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province, in order to attend the inauguration of the “Precious Hall of Great Hero”, setting great statue of Guan Yin (Avalokitesvara) at Co Am Pagoda.
Co Am Pagoda is known as an ancient citadel located in the Len Hai Vai area. According to the Mandarin language carvings inscribed on the stone pillar in front of the main hall, the pagoda was built from the post-Le dynasty in over 600 years ago.Through up-and-down history, the pagoda has been seriously damaged, leaving only a number of artifacts such as stones, stone incense burner ... as well as the old foundation.
Having enough causal destinies as well as the permission of the Master - Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, the abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh City, and Junior Venerable Thich Tam Thanh came to Co Am to guide practices.In 2013, recognizing the need to strengthen the facilities to serve the needs of religious education and beliefs of local Buddhists, along with the appointment of the abbot, the groundbreaking ceremony to build Great Hero Palace and many works were solemnly performed. From the hard work as well as the effort of the abbot and the local Buddhists, up to now, the first stage of the renovation of the site has been accomplished with the items as Main hall, lecture hall, road, Arhat, Nhu Y Cave, ...
Before the inauguration ceremony, on the afternoon of June 3rd, 2017, the monks and Buddhists celebrated the ritual of Avalokitesvara statue at the top of the mountain.
At 9 am, the official inauguration program began with the formal demonstration of the religious leaders of the Buddhist Association of Nghe An Province, the monks and nuns of the monasteries of the pagodas inside and outside the province, The abbot of the pagodas which are the branches of Hoang Phap Pagoda, locating inside and outside the country, the leaders of the local authorities, the noble family and the noble Buddhists.
After declaring the reasons for the program, Venerable Thich Tam Thanh, the abbot of Co Am Temple, the head of BTC gave the opening speech. After that, Venerable Thich Tam Vuong, on behalf of the organizers, approved the report on the first phase of process of building at Co Am Pagoda. Accordingly, in the 1stphase, the total area for construction planning is 1.5 ha, with a total its cost of nearly 50 billion VN dong.
In honor of and praise the virtue of protection of the Three Jewels, the Venerable Abbot has awarded merit praise to organizations that have made great contributions to this work.
Congratulations to the inauguration of Co Am Temple, a large branch of Hoang Phap Pagoda in the North Central, Venerable Thich Tam Dao and Venerable Thich Tam Hoa. Congratulations, Venerable Thich Tam An has donated flower bouquets of Hoang Phap pagoda’s branches in the country and Venerable Thich Tam Truc, on behalf of overseas branches, donated flowers to congratulate the Abbot of the Pagoda.
For the ceremony, Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, head of the administrative board of Vietnam Buddhist Association in Nghe An praised the abbot for the task of propagating profit, and emphasized the role and importance of the Pagoda in community life.He hoped that the monks and nuns would continue to promote the great mission of a "Tathagata’s children", especially Nghe An, where the number of monks and nuns is limited.
At the end of the ceremony, the abbot was, on behalf of the Organizers, expressed his gratitude to the monks and nuns.Later, the pious monks and distinguished guests held the ceremony of cutting ribbons in the inauguration, released balloons for peaceful praying and ritual incense offering at “Three Germ Tower.â€
In the ceremony, there was Excellence Singer Ngoc Ha with the song "Buddha Return" and singer Quynh Trang singing "Earth Love".
