Opening the 108th Seven-Day Practice
Update: 04/05/2026
In the opening day’s morning of 108th Seven-Day Retreat of May 4th, 2026, the monks guided practitioners of demeanor in the retreat, such as clasping hands, greeting, bowing; rituals to offer a meal in the lunch. Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Abbot Thich Tam Truong had a dharma talk named to the mass in the afternoon of the same day.
The Abbot reiterated the Twelve Vows of Buddha Recitation in the retreat to help attendees understand the meaning of each vow reciting daily. The vow is a promise to oneself, a commitment to diligence, regularity, and single-mindedness in each recitation of the Buddha's name. Thanks to this, the light of mindfulness arises, empowering practitioners to achieve lucid thoughts — clearly seeing cause and effect, the principle of dependent origination, distinguishing right from wrong, and thus liberating themselves from the bondage and influence of external circumstances, because where there is attachment, there is suffering.
