Before the penitent rite, the mass listened to the Dharma talk with the topic: “Spiritual Attainment – Secular Achievement” from Reverend Thich Tam Vien, abbot of Hong Phap Pagoda, Binh Thuan province.

Through the history of Sakyamuni Buddha's life: his awakening, renouncing from household life, enlightenment, and preaching, Buddha left us the legacy with many precious lessons as well as valuable spiritual values. For more than 25 centuries, the world has undergone many large changes, just his noble teachings and virtues stand still and have hallmark in the heart of mankind.

The story of Buddha’s enlightenment with prominent details is such the valuable lessons for practitioners. It helps us acknowledge Buddha’s teachings in Dharmapada as "Be the island, the shelter for yourselves," or "Set the torch for your own life". Doing so, we will be able to earn success in life. These lessons are the oriented guidelines for our practice in present and future.

After the Dharma talk, the masses kept on with the penitent course as usual.
