Pravraj Celebration on Intercalary September 1st, Horse Year

The Pravraj (home-leaving becoming a monk/nun) is a precious event, which gains virtue eternally. Since the old days, this ritual is applied the monastery complex. The action showed the kindness, the spirit of willing to take care of the next generations, the gratefulness to the Buddha, which are all taught by the masters.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On the October 24th, 2014 (Intercalary September\r\n1st, Horse Year), a Pravraj Celebration was celebrated for five good men at\r\nHoang Phap Pagoda. The procession was witnessed by the Venerable Thich Chan\r\nTinh, who is abbot   Hoang Phap Pagoda, along with the other monks.

To have the rights to be in the Pravraj and then\r\npractice at the Pagoda, they had to spend at least six months without breaking\r\n32 rules of the Pravraj. Besides, they had to learn by heart the time of\r\nevening, night labor, noon offering, rite of the bowl offering, and know how to\r\nuse dharma instruments. Before being accepted to have Pravraj, they had to do\r\nthe test about Sutra and their manners.

At the Celebration, after the monks offered the incense to\r\nthe Buddha, the representatives invited the Venerables, the monks to have the\r\nkarma words. Responding to their request, Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh had\r\nthe words to them before the celebration. Especially, the Venerable noticed\r\nthat the future monks are the middle- honoured one, “The sons of Buddha”, “The\r\nmain ways to the Dharma”. Those words showed the important roles of the\r\nhome-leaving monks in the mission of spreading the Drama of the Tathagata.

Besides, the Venerable reminded that they have to try\r\ntheir best in practice and should not appear in the monk shape invading the\r\nprecepts, breaking the vegetarian rules which will affect to their manners.

 At last, on behalf of all the honoured ones, the\r\nVenerable did the Pravraj Celebration.
