Pray-for-peace cultivation course at Tieu Dao Pagoda - QuangNinh Province

In the morning of Nov, 7th, 2018 (Oct. 1st, Dog year), 400 believers gathered at Tieu Dao Pagoda to take part in the one-day cultivation course of pray-for-peace.

Responding to the invitation of Senior Ven. Thich Tam Tinh – the Abbot of Tieu Dao Pagoda, Senior Ven. Thich Dao Hien - representative of Executive Council of Vietnam Buddhism Association, vice supervisor and secretary of Executive Council of Vietnam Buddhism  Association in Quang Ninh, arrived at Tieu Dao Pagoda in order to make a speech on the topic called “There are four types of people in life.”

1.  The first kind is the type of people that only make themselves being suffered but not causing suffering to others? For instance, there are persons having money, houses but they are mean, helpless   with the poor. That means they don’t share the kindness to others, although they are rich in material properties; however, they still have feelings of loneliness, sadness and bother. When passing away, they cannot bring anything with them. Kindness is not been grown, which creates the idea of their own suffering.

2. The second kind is the type of people that make themselves and others suffering? It is those who have children who do not work hard for a stable life, but their sons and daughters choose to be opium addicted, alcoholic, gambling addicted, etc. The fact pushed them to be robbers and went into jail. As a result, they not only make themselves suffering, but also transfer the sufferings to their parents, siblings, friends.

3. The third kind is the type of people who do not make suffering for their own, but make others suffering? Some people have a life enough of both material and spiritual possession. However, somehow they like to find own happiness by pointing out others’ fault and pick that as a chitchatting topic which may break the unity. They don’t hurt themselves but they do hurt others, making others sad or leave their families, etc. 

4. The forth kind is the type of people who do not not cause themselves and others suffering? They are people who come to temples chanting sutra, reading scriptures, having no enmity with others; they know what they should know, what they should do, always unite to others. When at home, they complete their duties as home Buddhists, and do not bother neighborhood. When they in their country, they complete the duty as citizens.

At the end of the course, Senior Ven Thich Dao Hien advised the participant to try to cultivate and belong the fourth kind “the person who do not make themselves and others suffering”. They do not become the first three series of people. 

Ending the course, Senior Ven Thich Tam Tinh accompanied the mass to begin the confession ceremony the Great Fame of Confession.
