Q&A Session of 86th Seven-Day Retreat

In the morning of Sep 14, 2017 (Jul 24, lunar calendar), Venerable Thich Tam Hoa, Abbot of Hoa Phuc pagoda, Quoc Oai district, Hanoi, came to Hoang Phap Pagoda to conduct Q&A session of 86th Seven-Day Retreat.

It has been the 86th time that Seven-Day Retreat is organized with relentless efforts from Buddhists and Sangha at Hoang Phap pagoda for the sake of preaching Dharma light to everyone. The Organizer would like to listen to feedback from the mass as well as release all the relevant queries and concerns of participants. Via this process, organizer can see the progress in mind of practitioners and have proper improvement for better result in coming courses.

This time, there is a Q&A session in the retreat regarding practicing. Among many questions from audience, the organizer selected two significant and most interested questions to answer as following:

Question 1: I have been interested in Buddhism for two years. I got the advice taking refuge in Triratna and I did it at Hue Nghiem pagoda with the Most Venerable who has got great merit and wisdom there. During the ceremony, there was a prayer: “I vow to be the practitioner of Lotus sutra till eternality” while I prefer Buddha’s name recitation to other methods.

Is there something wrong with this?

Question 2:

I have joined and practiced at Hoang Phap ashram with proper practicing methods for my cultivation. In the meantime, many monks from pagoda in northern Vietnam are currently propagating a practicing method, in which practitioners just focus in reciting Amita Buddha name and reading Amitabha Sutra. I am confusing on this issue. Please give me your advice.

After more than an hour of sharing and explanation, the Venerable has helped the mass clearing all the confusion in mind, enhancing the belief in Triratna, choosing proper practicing method and being diligent in cultivation.
