Regular Penitent Course on Sep 19, 2017
Update: 20/09/2017
In the evening of Sep 19, 2017 (Jul 29/07 Dinh Dau), devout Buddhists from HCMC and other regions came to Hoang Phap Pagoda for regular repentant course.
This time, Venerable Thich Hoang Gioi, monk of Hoang Phap Sangha, delivered the Dharma talk with topic "Good food - Good life"
Good food: we should consume foods that are good for health without causing any misery or harm to any beings.
Good life: live right life with integrity and morals.
In many cases, to have a delicious meal, people are ready to take lives of beings such as buffalo, cow, poultry, fish and so on. Are butchering and relevant activities during meat processing (as cutting throat, plucking, skinning alive animals …) good behaviors? Of course not! Buddhists advocating the slogan “good food and good life†should be vegetarian and follow Buddhas’ teachings.
Besides benefits as showing compassion for sentient beings, avoiding bad karmas from slaughtering, having easeful mind and body, vegan regime is good for health, helps us prevent and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, protect the environment and bringing longevity to practitioners.
In more than an hour of sharing, the Venerable has helped the mass understand more about vegetarianism as well as how to live a good and noble life. This is the code of ethics that Buddhist should practice during the Path to liberation.
After the lecturing, it was repentant course as usual.
