Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Khac, monks of the pagoda gave a dharma talk named Eight sufferings in the truth of suffering.
After attaining enlightenment, the truth of suffering is the first truth in the Four Noble Truths that the Buddha preached with eight types of suffering that sentient beings reincarnating in the six realms always endure, including of suffering: birth, old age, illness, death, separation of love, unsuccessful desires, meeting of hatred person, five-aggregate increasing. He has clearly analyzed each suffering that every sentient being has experienced not only in the present life but from beginningless kalpas to the present; all Buddhas of the past declared this truth.
Having enough conditions to go to the temple, listen to the Buddha sutras, and lectures of the monks means we are taking a step forward on the path to enlightenment and liberation. Thanks to Buddha Shakyamuni's preaching and introduction of Amitabha Buddha's world of Ultimate Bliss, He pointed to the method of reciting the Buddha's name as a means to help sentient beings easily follow and practice in all circumstances. Lay Buddhists still have duties and the responsibility of taking care of family life. However, we should arrange time to practice and recite Buddha's names (Medicine Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, etc.) depending on each person's root and ability. At the same time, we should guide our descendants, teach them to recite Buddha's name to sow good seeds. Practitioners need to maintain the practice schedule, if with a sincere mind and solid faith, all obstacles will certainly pass. When we recite the Buddha's name, reducing gossip, which will help our mind become less scattered; gradually we will reach one mind and make steady progress on the path of practice.
After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
