Repentance ceremony on Dec. 14th, Year of the Dragon at Suoi Phap Pagoda, Tay Ninh

On Jan. 13th, 2025 (Dec. 14th, Year of the Dragon), good men and believing women returned to Suoi Phap pagoda in Tay Ninh province (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda ‘s Sect) to attend the periodic penance rite.

Junior Thich Tam Huong, Abbot of Suoi Phap Pagoda had a dharma talk titled “Advance on or step backward on the path of cultivation” before the rite.

 

A year has passed with mixed emotions of joy and sadness, the Abbot has a few words of encouragement for the mass. Some people succeed, some fail, some lose loved ones or fall into debt and suffer from illness, ... all of these are impermanent manifestations of human life. The sutra on impermanence is recited every day and every hour in life, as a reminder for us to quickly awaken and practice, eliminate defilements, cultivate blessings and wisdom to overcome suffering for ourselves and others.

 

He spread New Year wishes and gratitude to Buddhist followers who have accompanied and supported the temple during the past time on the year-end occasion.

 

After the Dharma session, the mass entered the Repentance Ceremony.
