Repentance ceremony on Feb. 14th, Year of the Dragon

On March 23rd, 2024 (Feb. 14th, Year of the Dragon), good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the periodical penitential ceremony.

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Thach, the pagoda Quang Phap‘s Abbot in Tay Ninh province had a dharma talk named "Retribution in cause and effect at present" to share with Buddhists.

Retribution means the return results from the words, thoughts and actions we have created including good and bad deeds, it can come early or late, right in this life or in the next life. Cause and effect operate according to natural laws, no one creates and no one can destroy.

Next, he told a number of retribution stories belonging to the sutras in Samyutta Agama, and Samyutta Nikaya; problems in today's society about abortion, fortune-telling, gambling, etc,. Therefore, the mass clearly sees the terrifying consequences of bad deeds, and has insight, avoiding these evils, complying five precepts according to the Buddha's teachings to have a truly happy and peaceful life.

After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
