Repentance ceremony on June 14th, Year of the Tiger

On July 12th, 2022 (June 14th, LC), men and women Buddhists inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the periodical penitential ceremony.

Before the ritual, Junior Thich Tam Khac had a dharma talk to the mass, named Nine great merits of parents.

Every person who exists in the world is dependent on the care and nourishment of their parents. These two respectable people have sacrificed their whole lives to care, worry, provide, and fully educate their children. Therefore, the boundless merit of nurturing and sacrifice is clearly shown by nine great graces: Being born – cradling – cuddling – nursing – nurturing – teaching – looking after – caring for – support; The lecturer analyzed the meaning of each merit to the mass. From here, the monk warned unfilial children by stories of cause and effect. Next, he conveys a message of the parents’ sacred love and the spirit of profound gratitude of children.

Last, he showed the best way to pay filial piety to our parents: We not only take care of and provide adequate material resources, but also have to guide our parents to rely on the Three Jewels, and always practice the Buddha's teachings.

After the Dharma talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
