Update: 30/04/2026
The repentance ceremony at Hoang Phap Pagoda was attended by a large number of male and female Buddhists, devotees on April 30th, 2026. Vice Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Nguyet had a dharma talk titled “Blessings from cultivating the Buddha dharma” to the attendees before the ritual.
What does blessing mean?
Blessing refers to good deeds performed by body, speech, and mind that bring peace and happiness to oneself and others in the present and future, according to the monk's teachings. Meanwhile, he advised that each of us possess blessing in the five senses, wisdom, longevity, and the capacity for enlightenment, so, this is the most auspicious cause for blessing on the path of spiritual practice. As a result, we should actively accumulate merit by kind doing with a good heart, benefiting ourselves and others to attain peace and joy, as taught in verse 118 of the Dhammapada:
If one should some merit make
do it again and again.
One should wish for it anew
for merit grows to joy.
Last, the pagoda prepared cups of sweet soup to offer to the attendees. The repentance ceremony closed in the participants’ joy.
