On Jan. 2nd, 2026 (Nov. 14th, LC) good men and believing women inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend a periodical penitential rite.

The Monks of Hoang Phap pagoda in HCMC, Junior Thich Tam Bien, had a dharma talk named “Viewing angle”.

"What is the essence of Buddhism? This is a question that practitioners studying and following the Buddha teachings may ask themselves.

The monk clearly pointed out that the correct perspective on the Dharma is the core and essence of Buddhism. In all relationships, happiness or suffering is determined by each person's perspective and understanding. Depending on one's viewpoint, people can become envious and unsafe to one another. Conversely, if we view life and people with tolerance and understanding, that is the cause of harmony and peace. Above all, only genuine love is the solid foundation for all existence and development.

Indeed, letting go of negative thoughts, attachment to viewpoints that lead to suffering and resentment; practicing mindfulness of body and mind to recognize our faults and correct them daily is a way to broaden our perspective, show compassion, and also positively increase goodness. Thanks to these, our loving-kindness will expand, giving us the capacity to share and embrace the suffering of those in need, meaning we are following the Bodhisattvas 's path.
