Solemnly holding the 6th One-Day Retreat 2026 at Minh Chat Ashram in Can Tho.
Update: 10/08/2026
On the morning of August 2nd, 2026, Minh Chat ashram (Can Tho City) solemnly held its 6th "Buddha-Name Recitation" retreat, attended by a large number of lay Buddhists. The retreat was guided by Junior Thich Tam Hue with the support of monks from Hoang Phap Pagoda.
To begin, participants were instructed on proper Buddhist demeanor and the practice of prostration; they participated in mindfulness activities and joined together in reciting the holy name "Namo Amitabha Buddha."
The retreat was honored to welcome Senior Dr. Thich Vien Tri—a member of the Executive Council and Deputy Head cum Chief Secretary of the Central Committee for Buddhist Education of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, as well as Vice Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist University in HCMC—who delivered a Dharma talk titled "How to Receive the Protection of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara."
This profound Dharma talk helped the attendees understand the vows and practices of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and fostered genuine faith. The Senior emphasized that a wise person must speak "at the right time, in the right place and for the benefit of others." He also advised Buddhists seeking protection to practice the "giving of fearlessness" and to spread compassion to everyone.
Following the Dharma talk, the attendees solemnly performed the midday meal offering ritual, the food offering to lonely spirits, and participated in a creature release rite on the Hau River in the afternoon.
To conclude the program, the monks guided the Buddhists in making offerings to the Buu Lai Precept Altar at Truc Lam Phuong Nam Monastery, thereby supporting the Three Jewels and contributing to the training of monks and nuns to sustain the lineage of the Buddha-Dharma.
