Repentance ceremony on Oct. 30th, Year of the Snake

The Monks of Hoang Phap pagoda in HCMC, Junior Thich Tam Thu, Abbot of Tan Phap temple, Tay Ninh had a dharma talk “"Don't mistake the blossoming of apricot opens for Spring” to all Buddhists.

The saying "Don't mistake the blossoming of apricot opens for spring" serves as a reminder not to hastily judge things based on subjective, unsound judgment. When the mind is overwhelmed by worries, we easily lose the ability to recognize the true nature and are led astray by emotions and preconceived notions. Therefore, each person needs to practice contemplating life with a quiet, mindful, clear, and innocent mind. Because the mind is the master of all dharma, a cultivator is difficult to recognize the truth, easily obscured by afflictions when the mind is dark and confused. In our behavior, we should not rush to follow our emotions or impose our own ideas, but we need to know how to stop, calm down, and maintain mindfulness so that we can look objectively and in the clearest way at the things that happen to us. When we know how to look at life with that insight, afflictions will gradually lessen, injustice and resentment will be resolved, helping us not to cause suffering to ourselves or to cause suffering to others.

After the Dharma talk, the mass entered the penitential ritual as usual.
