REPENTANT CEREMONY

In the evening of October 8th, 2018, devout Buddhists from in and out of HCMC gathered at Hoang Phap for taking the monthly repentant ceremony.

This time, Ven. Thich Tam Manh gave a Dharm Talk to all on the title of “Building the Faith in Buddhism”.

 In the Avataṃsakasūtra the Buddha said faith is the gate to enter the Path, the mother of all merits, and the means to grow up all wholesome deeds. Buddha emphasized that His teaching for learning and understanding, not for blind faith.

However, today people mostly come to the temple not for learning Dharma and practice but pray for the Buddha’s mercy only. By accident, we assimilate the Buddha as other gods for asking and praying. This is a wrong faith.

By this, the Buddha asked us to have a right faith by searching and learning Dharma and the first and foremost is “by yourself to light Dharma, self-dependence, not rely on others; lets Dharma be your light, lean on Dharma, not anything else”.

For one hour sharing, he guided everyone how to cultivate for growing up the right faith to have a peaceful life according to Buddhism.
