Repentant Ceremony April 29th, 2018

In the evening of April 29th, 2018, devout Buddhist from Ho Chi Minh City and other regions came to Hoang Phap temple for the monthly periodic repentant ceremony. This time, the Dharma sharing was given by Venerable Thich Hoang Gioi, one of the Hoang Phap’s monk, on the title of “Faith in the Pure Land Practice”.

The living beings have eighty-four thousands types of sickness and different ability, therefore the Buddha addressed various teachings for lifting them from suffering. In which the Pure Land Practice or chanting the name of the Amitabha Buddha is the easiest practice but giving a marvelous effect. However, recently time there some sayings that the Pure Land Practice in particular and all the Mahayana literature in general, were not derived from the Buddha himself but the Chinese patriarch leaving as the means to save the living beings. This information makes confusing many Buddhist and shaking their faith in the Pure Land Practice. Therefore, Venerable Thich Hoang Gioi gave a talk about the Buddhist history from India to China and from China to Vietnam through each historical period and were kept in detail records. The Mahayana Buddhist literature was introduced to China from India and from China to Vietnam in the different time. The high ranking monks had translated from the Sanskrit to Chinese and popularized to other lands. So it has an evident origin from India, not just reported and formed by the Chinese patriarch as the rumor. By the talk, Venerable hopes the Buddhist have a clear and right view in Mahayana Buddhism, especially the Pure Land Practice that we are following.

Spending one-hour sharing, Venerable helps people to have unwavering faith in what they're practicing and put more effort for the final aim of liberation and ending all suffering.
