Repentant ceremony at Suoi Phap Pagoda

On Nov. 23rd, 2022 (Oct. 30th, LC) good men and believing women returned to Suoi Phap pagoda in Tay Ninh province (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda ‘s custom) to attend the periodic penance rite.

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Huong, Abbot of Suoi Phap Pagoda had a dharma talk titled “Change our destiny”. He preached that every person born in this life has different circumstances: people from rich families, poor people, hard workers... all of their fates are related to predestined and karma caused in the past life.

If in the past, we created many good seeds, practiced precepts, cultivated virtues, thanks to the blessings we created, we had a good fortune in the present life; on the contrary, if the past has not sown blessings, this life cannot have the conditions to receive good results.

Indeed, the fate of every human being can be changed if we have a positive outlook, good thinking, nobility and make efforts to change our behavior. According to the Buddhist concept, if one wants to change their destiny, they must change their perception and behavior first, then diligently do good deeds (accumulate merit) and always make efforts in life. Gradually, that one will transform their own destiny for the better.
