Repentant ceremony at Suoi Phap Pagoda

On Jan. 24th, 2024 (Dec. 14th, LC) good men and believing women returned to Suoi Phap pagoda (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda Sect) in Tay Ninh province to attend the periodic penance rite.

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Huong, Abbot of Suoi Phap Pagoda had a dharma talk titled “Reflecting.”

We will welcome the Year of the Dragon in just over two-week next. Over the past year, we have all had mixed feelings of joy and sadness….so, we need to look back at how we have practiced:

- Have you been able to give up your evil mind and bad habits?

- Does your mind have a feeling of peace in the Dharma?

- How is your faith in practice? Have you helped or guided anyone into BuddhaDharma?

- Do you help anyone overcome difficulties and suffering?

We need to self-examine and reflect on ourselves to see how we have practiced the "Four-Mind immeasurability" on this repentance day at the end of the year.

Do loving-kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity increase or decrease? To have peaceful and happy energy in the new year, everyone should extend compassion to all creatures, care for and help those around us. Furthermore, we need to practice well ourselves, leading everyone to rely on BuddhaDharma to transform suffering into happiness. In this way, we will have a truly peaceful and happy Spring.

After the dharma talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
