Repentant Ceremony at Tu Phap Pagoda

On March 31st, 2022 (Feb. 29th, Year of the Tiger) good men and believing women returned to Tu Phap Pagoda in Nghe An to attend the periodic penance rite.

Repentance is that we repent and are ashamed of the mistakes we have made, vowing to change and not dare to do them again. The important thing of repentance is repenting and giving up mistakes.

For a long time, we have created many evil karma,

Because of greed, anger, and delusion produced

Then, the body, mouth, and mind cause faults

Therefore, we repent for my mistakes.  

When we have a resolute will to avoid making mistakes, our actions are not erroneous; our dignity is enhanced, our virtue is increasing day by day. Thanks to that, our body and mind are at ease, because we are not worried and sad.

Junior Thich Tam Due, Abbot of Tu Phap Temples guided the mass the penitential rite and reviewed Three Refuges and Five Precepts of lay Buddhists.

After the period of repentance, the Abbot had a few words of advice to Buddhists to try to practice diligently, rely on Three Jewels, uphold Buddhadharma and keep precepts of the Buddha's disciples.
