Repentant Ceremony August 10th, 2018

In the evening of August 10th, 2018 (June 29th, Lunar Calendar), devout Buddhists from in and out HCMC gathered at Hoang Phap temple for the usual repentant ceremony. This time, the Dharma Talk was given by Ven. Thich Tri Thong, one of Hoang Phap’s monks, through the thinking of “Buddhism and the Wrong Views”.

The Talk pointed out some normal thoughts which come to our lives very naturally and automatically as the general concepts and most of the people accepted it. However, these thinking are so dangerous for Buddhism because it prevents Buddhism from further development and nourish long-term the wrong views about Buddhist learning and practicing.

·Go to the temple only for the old people, who are free and have nothing to do

· Seeing the Buddha people alert and want to jump into practice, but when they get home seeing parent work so hard, they feel guilty and don’t want to practice anymore.

·No need to show we are the Buddhist by taking the vegan food or chanting sutras, giving our properties, making donations,… because the real Buddha is in our heart, not outside.

·Consider Buddha as one type of gods, who has the power to grant or punish the human being, then people worship for asking what they want: wealth, fame, children,…

·Misunderstanding the Buddha’s teaching by the thinking that the Buddhist Teaching System is nothing but making human’s mind become positive.

·Misunderstanding about the Buddhist scriptures.

·Having wrong thought about the Buddha’s disciples.

Spending one-hour sharing, he made the Buddhist mind become clear and removed all the wrong views as well as some misunderstanding about Buddhism, rebuilt a firming faith in the Buddhist practice for a happy life.
