Repentant Ceremony on March 14th, Year of the Buffalo

On April 25th, 2021 (Mar. 14th, LC) good men and believing women in and out of Ho Chi Minh City returned to Hoang Phap Pagoda to attend the periodic penance rite.

Before beginning the rite, Junior Thich Tam Hiep had a dharma talk with the theme The Buddhas are equal.

After the Buddha Shakyamuni entered Nirvana, the inside of the organization had deep conflicts of the individuals' own conceptions, leading to the formation of many sects. In that situation, the different notions of the Buddha's image create the inequality in the thoughts of the sects. According to the writing from the ancient sutras, the monk proved that the Buddhas are equal among the Buddhas of the past, present, future. Due to the disagreement of opinion and philosophy among the sects that formed arguments about doctrines, always upholding the tenets of their own sect and lowering the one of other sects.

From the lecture, he reminded Buddhists who practice according to Buddhism must always learn and understand the traditions and history of Buddhas. At that time, we will avoid falling into misunderstanding and confusion about the Buddha image that occurs contradictions and mutual criticising.

After the talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
