Retreat “Purification body and mind” at Co Am Pagoda

From September 17th -18th (August 22nd-23rd, LC), Co Am pagoda in Nghe An province (belonging to the Hoang Phap pagoda ‘s custom), organized the Two-day Retreat with the theme "Purification of Body and Mind".
On the afternoon of September 16th, 2022 good men and believing women returned to the temple to register the retreat. After the registration process, all attendees gathered in the main hall to start the chanting session.
On September 17th, 2022, Buddhists entered the first day of the retreat with chanting, reciting the Buddha name in meditation walking around the main hall. After that, the monks instructed the necessary demeanor of Buddhists, such as: clasping hands, salute, walking, offering meal at lunch, as well as the rules of the retreat.
At the Dharma talk, the practitioners solemnly listened to the sermon by Junior Thich Tam Thanh, Abbot of Co Am Pagoda. He has clearly stated the retreat’s meaning and rules to help the participants better understand and not get stuck in the rules. In order for the body and mind to be peaceful and calm, Buddhists should keep righteous thoughts in their minds by doing "Silence". He emphasized this importance of precious time, getting rid of all defilements, gradually getting without attachment of body and mind.
In the afternoon, there is a walking meditation session around the campus of Co Am pagoda.
In the evening, Buddhists gather in the temple yard to welcome the monks to hold the rite of "Repentance". Thanks to this, everyone has the opportunity to cleanse the body and mind, eliminate sorrows, and accumulate merits.
On the morning of September 18th, 2022 (August 23rd, LC), after breakfast, the mass entered to chant the Mahayana Sutra of Infinite Life and recite the Buddha's name.
In the afternoon, Junior Thich Tam Thanh, Abbot of Co Am Pagoda had a few words of encouragement and advice for Buddhists, even though they return their family, they must also keep the moral lifestyle of a follower of ethic standards and help for religion and life.
