Starting the Temporary Ordination Retreat for Children in Summer with the theme Sowing compassion seeds

On July 22nd, 2024, Hoang Phap Pagoda officially opened The Temporary Ordination Retreat with the theme Sowing compassion seeds for over 700 children from 10 - 15 years old to attend.

Before the ceremony in the morning, kids listened to some necessary rules by the Monks.

The rite officially took place at 08:00, 55 good sons and the mass respectfully welcomed Monks come to the main hall to celebrate the ceremony, offering incense to the Buddha.

After introducing the program and the reason statement, the representatives of these young sons had a speech to offer to the Sangha.Next, Junior Thich Tam Truong, Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda had some dharma words for them. These good sons simultaneously offered their vow to ordinate.

In the solemn and pure atmosphere, the ceremony was performed.

The representative of good sons expressed his thanks to the Sangha. The image of the monks cutting the hair for the good son has closed the ceremony of ordination.

In the evening, Junior Thich Tam Truong, Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda had a dharma talk about the meaning of Temporary ordination to all the listeners.

Temporary Ordination is to leave the secular home to live in a moral environment, practice a pure religious life, and sow good seeds in Three Jewels for a short period of time. In order for the children to understand basic Buddhist knowledge, the monk explains some commonly used words in the temple and the cultivators' necessary demeanor. He reminds them should cultivate moral character, good behavior towards everyone, be grateful and obedient to their parents and grandparents, and learn patience so that they will be obedient children and good students, are the future owners of the country, full of talent and virtue., ect, when returning to their families.

He gave some questions and very cute gifts for children who paid attention to the lecture and had good answers after the lecture.

The little attendees chanted the Ullambana Sutra in solemnity to listen to the teachings about grace to parents in the evening.
