Summer Retreat for children in 2023 at Dong Cao pagoda, Thanh Hoa

Aiming at a useful and meaningful playground in summer days for children in spite of the facilities are still lacking, but the monks of Dong Cao Pagoda (Nga Yen, Nga Son, Thanh Hoa) organized the 6th Summer Retreat for over 200 kids everywhere, from ages 7-13 years old to attend with the theme Temporary ordination on July 3rd to July 6th, 2023.

The retreat schedule has many meaningful and useful activities to help children learn independence, gratitude, love, and many valuable lessons, which help them grow up to be perfect on moral character, becoming a useful person for himself, his family and society.

 

Young practitioners were guided in walking meditation, reciting an Eight-thing Sutra - Compassion, listening to the love radio, reading the Lesson of Gratitude, learning demeanor, having fun activities, learning life skills, chanting parents’ Gratitude Sutra, performing arts, participating in talent contests, taking refuge in Three Jewels, Temporary ordination, learning about the Buddha’s life instructed by monks. In the retreat, the gratitude ceremony to parents is an opportunity for little learners to express their love to parents, being a bridge for father-mother and children to understand each other better, and firmly connecting family emotional bonds.

 

The retreat was completely successful to the joy of parents and children.
