The 10th retreat “Practice as the Buddha's Teachings” at Dong Cao Pagoda

In the spirit of gratitude towards Amitabha Buddha's birthday and Bodhisattva Siddhārtha enlightenment, Dong Cao pagoda in Thanh Hoa continued to hold the 10th retreat “Practice as the Buddha's teachings” on Dec. 30th, 2020 - Jan. 3rd, 2021 with nearly 100 Buddhists to attend.
In the morning of Dec. 30th, 2002, Junior Thich Tam Hung, Head of the Organizers stated the purpose, meaning and necessary rules of the retreat to help the participants practice diligently. He advised Buddhists to keep on practicing mindfulness in order to find peace in everyday life. At the end of the Dharma talk, Buddhists were received the ten precepts by the monks.
During the retreat, the practitioners had a six-session day of cultivation (3:30 am - 21:30 pm). The session included sutras, such as, Sigalovada, Ksihitigarbha, the Amitabha Sutra and the Mahayana Sutra of Buddha of infinite Life. In addition, there are periods of reciting sutras, praying to the Buddha, meditating and listening to the Buddha's teachings.
In this retreat, on Jan. 3rd, 2021 (Nove. 21st, Year of Ox). Thich Tam Hung organized the Refuge Ceremony for over 100 people. In the morning, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hung preached the meaning of taking refuge in the Three Jewels and duties of Buddhists.
In the afternoon of the same day, accepting the invitation of the Venerable Abbot, Junior Thich Tinh Hai, abbot of Linh Ung Pagoda (Thanh Hoa) and Junior Thich Nhan Toan, abbot of Thien Huong pagoda (Thanh Hoa) witnessed the rite. On behalf of the delegates, Junior Thich Tinh Hai had some dharma words for Buddhists. The Ven. interpreted the noble faith to have a better understanding of Buddhism, the responsibilities and duties of the lay Buddhists.
At the end of the retreat, the Organizers sent gifts to Buddhists and good wishes for the new year, see them again at the 11th "Practice the Buddha’s teachings" in March 2021.
