The 1ST “Lighting the Light of Wisdom” Competition

To facilitate the Buddhists in learning Dharma and apply it into practice to get peace and happiness, Hoang Phap launched the campaign learning Dharmapada by heart for joining the competition “Lighting the Lights of Wisdom”.

Then on October 7th, 2018, the 1st competition “Lighting the Lights of Wisdom” was taken place in an atmosphere of reverence and the witness of the monks.

In the opening ceremony, on behalf of Ven. Abbot Thich Chan Tinh, who in current is busy with Buddhist activities, the organizers addressed some words to all the participants in placing wisdom as the most important matter in Dharma spreading career. To cultivate wisdom nothing is better than spend the time to learn Dharma and apply it in daily life. With a wise view, people have peace and happiness in current and later.

Finished the ceremony, the official contest began. There are 250 candidates and 30 judges. 60 among 250 examinees nearly memorized by heart, but only 18 done it well and satisfy all conditions from the board of organization: memorize by heart 423 Dharmapada verses within 1 and 15 hours.

In the afternoon, the closing ceremony and giving certification were held. All are happy including the failures because they know sowing the bodhi seed is the most important in Buddhism for future attaining liberation, and they had done.
