The 2nd-day Children 's Summer Retreat
Update: 17/07/2020
The 2nd-day Children's Summer Retreat on July 17th, 2020 (lunar May 27th, Year of Mouse), the participants listened to a short dharma talk from Junior Ven. Thich Dao Quang with the topic "The smell of Sweat".
Each person has a sweat gland by the body structure, so it becomes a very familiar and unique smell for children when their parents bring kids on their shoulders. The smell of that sweat represents the silent sacrifice of parents, who bestowed happiness and joy on kid life. Yet when those kids are not met hopeful things, they will have words, actions and thoughts are not good to their parents. These analyzing words, the preacher pointed out the wrong actions the learners have committed so that they can personally apologize and thank their mother and father. As a result, the Monk helped attendees understand and appreciate this precious and sacred affection.
That afternoon, the children listened to a short lecture from Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Director of Pacific Young Talent Training Company with the topic of Emotionlessness.
By stories in daily life, the lecturer has shown an alarming reality in today’s society - it's the emotionlessness. He helped the attendees better understand the manifestations of insensitivity disease: lack of interest and listening from family members, people around, only thinking of themselves, often falling into silence and rarely confiding with their parents and friends.
Since then, he instructed some methods to get rid of insensitivity: sincerely caring about, setting up working time, sharing difficulties with family, being grateful and appreciative what we have.
He also reminded the participants should live with feelings; do not let emotionlessness create a hardening in the mind.
