Junior Thich Tam Hoa guided little learners coming to the lecture hall to participate in funny activities and do exercise after registering.
All Kids listened to a dharma talk on the topic named Meaning of refuge in Three Jewel by Junior Thich Tam Truong, Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda.
Taking refuge in the Three Jewels means turning to rely on the Buddha - Dharma - Sangha. The Buddha we turn to rely on is the Buddha Shakyamuni. Dharma is the Buddha's teachings in the scriptures. Sangha is a group of four or more monks living together in harmony and purity.
No one can avoid making mistakes, committing sins from the initial stage to now. Therefore, before taking refuge in the Three Jewels, we need to repent of our three-karma body, speech and mind to be pure.
Repentance is to recognize and repent of mistakes and vow not to repeat previous mistakes.
Taking refuge in the Three Jewels is a lifelong commitment to take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.
After taking refuge, lay people vow to follow five precepts: no killing, no stealing, no sexual misconduct, no lying, no drinking alcohol.
Complying with the Three Refuges and Five Precepts, the master will give the Followers a religious name, which is the name in the Dharma.
The monk helps the kids understand the meaning of taking refuge, obeying five precepts, and understanding basic Buddhist terms from which they can apply them in life towards truth, goodness, and beauty.
The children interacted with singer Quy Luan and singer Duong Nghi Dinh after the dharma talk.
The monk instructed little listeners to sit in meditation and repeat the comic book of Mother-Father grace compiled by Most Thich Chan Tinh. Understanding the hardship, wearing and love of their parents, the kids should be grateful, be more filial and obedient.
The life skills’ program with the theme “Family Puzzle” was shared by Mr. Doan The Son – Director of Van Phuc Academy to all children in the afternoon.
The children watched Circus - Magic Kle – Quoc after the skills program.
The Playground closed with the joy of all children and their parents.
Before leaving the temple, the Organizers gave a book gift of dharma compiled by Most Thich Chan Tinh to kids.
