Update: 18/04/2022
On April 17th, 2022 Dong Cao pagoda (Thanh Hoa province) organized the 9th retreat "Sowing seeds lotus" for nearly 100 children aged 6 - 13 years old to attend.
Children are the future of the country as well as the future of Buddhism. They not only are cared for health but also nurtured in the spirit to help them have a right awareness, sow the seeds of Bodhi, believe in the Three Jewels, receive core values and live according to the Buddha's teachings.
Although severe weather as well as epidemics are still complicated, the organizers hoped the children would have a healthy playground, cultivate morality, be close to the good things and the Buddha's teachings.
After the registration procedure in the morning, Junior Thich Tam Hung guided young learners of meditation walking and read the poem “Gratitude”. Next, Ms Lien Thanh and members in the Youth Club showed them fun games and singing in the lecture hall.
At 8:30, Buddhist Dieu Tam guided some necessary rules when going to the pagoda and introducing the pagoda. Next, the children returned to the living room to visit and receive gifts from the Abbot.
Continuously, it was a moment of collective fun guided by Ms Tran Nga. The children can read books and connect with friends. At lunch, they take rice, eat and wash bowls they had used.
After sleeping in the afternoon, the children started the time to sit quietly and read the poem “Gratitude” led by Abbot and listen to teachings of the masters before beginning the program.
At 2:30 p.m., the skill learning program with the topic Fire Escape Skills was shared with the learners by Ms Nhat Quyen from Thanh Hoa Reach Skills Training Academy. Nearly two hours with meaningful warm-up games, friendly words and practical activities, Ms Nhat Quyen helped all participants learn more fire escape skills in life.
In addition, Buddhists prepared for Buddha's birthday in 2022.
At the end of the practice day, the children enjoyed powdered sweet soup from Buddhists.
