The anniversary of Shakyamuni Buddha entering into Nirvana and celebrating Birthday of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara at Dong Cao Pagoda

In the spirit of gratitude of Buddha's disciples, Buddhists returned to Dong Cao pagoda in Thanh Hoa to attend the memorial ceremony of Buddha Shakyamuni entering nirvana and the repentance ceremony on the occasion of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's Birthday. The ritual was guided by Junior Thich Tam Hung, Abbot of Dong Cao Pagoda on March 17th, 2022 (Feb. 15th, LC).

After chanting the Ksitigarbha sutra, the mass had a trip to free creatures in Hung Long River to pray for the people's peace, and early eradication of the pandemic. After that, the participants returned to the temple to chant the sutra of Noble Eightfold Path and ate lunch in mindfulness.

At 19:00, the practitioners gathered together in the main hall to attend the official ceremony. Before offering incense to the Buddha, the abbot talked a few words about the Buddha's life and vows.  After chanting the mantra of Great Compassion, everyone practiced the 500-bowing ceremony towards the birthday of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Next, all of them with sunflowers in their hands walked and recited the name of Shakyamuni Buddha, offering to Him.

Next, it was the time the mass sat together to read and chant Amitabha Sutra, repeating the Buddha's teachings before he entered into nirvana. Finally, the monks and practitioners had a light party together.
