The Day of Tong Thanh Quy Tay at Hoa Phuc Pagoda
Update: 05/02/2021
On the Tong Thanh Quy Tay day, the monks and Buddhists at Hoa Phuc pagoda spend a day of practice to return to their spiritual roots and make vows on the day of Feb. 4th, 2021 (lunar Dec. 23rd, LC).
Tong Thanh Quy Tay (the ritual of seeing off the gods to heaven) is the time when Vietnamese people all turn to their ancestors and take care of their spiritual and blood-relationship home. Everyone has many opportunities to be in the kitchen together to cook a family meal, and together nurture love for all kinds. As a Buddhist, every day is the Tet Day of Lares, Kitchen God. When this is realized, we will care for and nurture families and people with our compassion and wisdom. Right then, we will have a lot of joy and happiness in our family.
We should do good deeds so that when the god reports doing in the world, he will happily retell our deeds to the king of Gods; otherwise, if there is only all sad, annoying, frustrating.... then it is difficult to talk in that meeting. Because nobody wants to say bad things, but if it happens, we have to mention bad things to fix it. Also, we should increase our spirit of service and dedication, and help people; when having good results, our kitchen god will be happy and satisfied.
"As long as we are grateful, that moment is happy" - it is truly a powerful mantra every time we forward our ancestors, family and people.
This tradition of monks and Buddhists at Hoa Phuc pagoda has become an annual custom, everyone spent the whole day having time to practice together towards spiritual roots.
Step by step take a moment to return to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, good ones and saints ... Practice seeing each other with the eyes of the Buddha, loving beings as the Buddha loved, and living like the way our sacred ancestors had lived ever.
Really, if we don't recognize that everything we have that is caused by our sowed seeds, we will blame and suffer what has happened around us.
