The first Repentant Ceremony in 2019

In the evening of Feb. 18th, 2019 (Jan. 14th, LC), devout Buddhists from in and outside HCMC came to Hoang Phap for taking the first Repentant Ceremony in 2019.

This time, Ven. Thich Tam Dao, a Hoang Phap monk, shared to all the Buddhists a talk named:  “Think of Spring”.

Spring makes everything changing, so we also renew ourselves to be better. Looking back this year to see what we had done and what we still haven’t then drawn out self-experience from that and direct for the next plan better than today. We are the Buddhists so self-correcting is the most important thing one needs to care. What comes from our body, speech and mind need attention to act. Then we gradually leave afflictions behind and have peace in life. When we really change ourselves, everything will be changed.

During the Tet Holidays, we normally enjoy with beer, wine, gambling, taking divination, worship the stars to exorcize the unlucky things,… These things actually have no effect as people believe but also give some dangers, so we need to select what should do according to the Buddha teaching. Nothing can be changed if we only pray without acting. A good life needs effort and practice, nothing is free. We reap what we sow, this law is the truth.

Finished the dharma talk, people take a ceremony as usual.
