The Joyful Retreat at Tieu Dao Pagoda – Quang Ninh Province

On October 20th, 2017 (September, 1st in Lunar Calendar) Ha Long City – Quang Ninh Province, Tieu Dao Pagoda held The One Day Retreat for 500 Buddhists.

On the occasion of The Founding of The Vietnamese Women’s Association, on Oct. 20th , Junior Ven. Thich Tam Tinh – Member of Propagation Board of The Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation at Quang Ninh Province – The Abbot of Tieu Dao Pagoda had Dharma talk on the theme of “The women’s role in life”

 The Junior said that from the time of Buddha until he entered Nirvana, there were two female believers whom he mentioned. It was at the time that he practiced austerely in the jungle and he was exhausted, He received a bowl of milk from the first female donor – Sujata. When he walked in the way, there were protectors as Anathapindika who offered to build temple. Besides, there was also a great donor, Visakha, who offered to Buddha and Monks

 In the history of thousands of years of building and defending our nation, women have always played important role and made great contribution, contributing to building the glorious tradition of the nation. Female heroesses Ba Trung and Ba Trieu fought against foreign invaders and have been recorded in history. Many women in the period of anti – French and anti – American government, there were Vo Thi Sau, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, ten girls Dong Loc, ect. Recognizing and appreciating those contributions, Uncle Ho rewarded Vietnamese women with eight golden words “Hero, Indomitability, Loyalty and   Responsibility”. In the currenttime, Vietnamese women prove their abilities and qualities, raised the patriotism, union, brought into play the potentiality and creativeness in production, work and study and have achieved excellent achievements in all fields of politics, economics, culture, society, national security and defense, which contributes to the development of the country, worthy of the eight golden words “Loyalty, Responsibility, Talent, Heroism”

 

The sex gap in the field of economy, labor and employment has been gradually reduced; The quality of human resources has been stepped up to ensure equal participation between men and women. There are many women who are engineers, doctors, businesswoman, good managers. In family, women play an important role in organizing life, building families according to the goal of “Prosperity, equality, progress, happiness” and preserve the traditional culture of the nation. It is affirmed that in any fields, women also promote their intellectual, creativity and are recorded, respected from society.
