Three-Jewel Refuge Ceremony at Dai Co Viet Pagoda – Yen Bai

On Jan. 08th, 2023 Dai Co Viet pagoda in Yen Bai province (belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda’s sect) solemnly held a ceremony to transmit Three Refuges - Five Precepts for good men and believing women.

Before the ceremony, monks instructed all participants to ethic rules when they come to the pagoda, such as the clasping their hands, greeting, prostrating, etc, ....Next, Junior Thich Hue Hanh, Abbot of Cay Thi pagoda explained details the Three Jewels, and necessary demeanors for Buddhists.

The ceremony officially took place under the witness of Junior Thich Tam The, Abbot of Dai Co Viet, Head of Director Board of Yen Binh district’s VietNam Buddhist Sangha in Yen Bai province, monks of Hoang Phap pagoda. The monks transmitted Three Refuges - Five Precepts and encouraged Buddhists to properly understand the refuge in Buddhism, as well as to apply the Buddha's teachings in daily life.

In the evening, all monks and Buddhists held the Candle Lighting Ritual to commemorate Shakyamuni Buddha Enlightenment. Under the witness of Senior Thich Minh Huy, member of the Central Executive Council, Head of Director Board of Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha in Yen Bai province, accompanied by monks and nuns have returned to attend the ceremony. This chance, the Senior has preached about the Buddha life of. That is an opportunity for Buddha disciples to remember the sacred and mysterious moment when the Buddha attained enlightenment. The ritual carried the message "When the Dharma ‘s light is lit and transmitted, let's unite, harmonize, bring compassion and wisdom to light the world, dispel the darkness of ignorance, misery."
