Ullambana Ceremony 2018 at Hoang Phap temple

As usual, the ceremony started with the welcoming the high ranking monks, ceremony’s reason, giving a speech. Then the most important part is the “Rose wearing” rite. During the rite, people spend a minute to recall one’s parent kindness, national gratitude, master gratitude... Then the performance of the song for changing the ceremony ambiance.

This year, the ceremony was added a new portion with the joining of the monks’ parents. They have arranged a seat below the monks and a special rite of wearing rose for them was taken place first by their children, the monk. Beside the rose-wearing, they also received a big flower garland and a practice chain as the gifts. This touched almost the Buddhist joining when thinking of their parent who passed or still alive.

The next, Kathina rite was done. This is always done every Pravārana finished, the great chance to get a merit for the lay people.

A short talk from Ven. Abbot Thich Chan Tinh was given to all the participants. He summarized the story of Ven. Mongallana’s piety and by which he admonished people to follow Ven. Mongallana to drive parent into a Buddhist way. Without taking the Buddha’s words into life people get difficult to be happy in this life and next life. Finished the talk, a wish all people to be happy was sent to all people.
