Ullumbana Ceremony at Giai Lam Pagoda, Ha Tinh Province

In the morning of August 9th, 2014 (on July 14th, Horse Year), Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh came to witness the Ullumbana ceremony at Giai Lam Pagoda- Thach Tan village- Thach Ha district- Thanh Hoa province. This pagoda is a branch of Hoang Phap Pagoda, tended and guided Buddhists practice by Junior Venerable Thich Tam Phong.

At 9 AM, teenagers from Buddhist families welcomed Venerables from the guest house\r\nto the rostrum. The scene inm the sunshine among slightly\r\nraindrops and yellow robes of monks became solemn and impressive.

\r\n\r\n

In the ceremony, besides the procedure of pinning\r\nrose and offering robes, ritual of ten essential gratitude items,\r\nattendants were solemnly moved by the feeling speech of Buddhist Thanh\r\nHuyen on filial piety to parents on current time.

\r\n\r\n

At the end of the ceremony, Senior Venerable\r\nThich Chan Tinh complimented the devotion of Monks and Buddhists of\r\nGiai Lam Pagoda who held the meaningful Ullambana Ceremony. It is a\r\nprecious lesson on filial piety of children to parents. He also encouraged\r\nBuddhists to frequently attend ceremonies like this one in order\r\nto cultivate morality as well as bring peace and happiness to their family\r\nand the society.

 In the afternoon, the Senior Ven. ascended the\r\nBuddha Hall and prayed to transmit the Triratna refuge for over 300\r\ngood men and believing women. Taking refuge is an essential remark in their life.\r\nTherefore, after receiving Triratna Refuge and Five Precepts, he advised\r\nall to keep an original faith of the nation for creating an everlasting Buddhism.

Attending this ceremony, each Buddhist was\r\noffered a DVD of â€œUllambana Ceremony in 2013”.
