Vegan Buffet Party and Music Performance Welcoming the New Year of Rooster
Update: 24/01/2017
On Jan 22, 2017 (Dec 25, lunar calendar) there was a year-end event for kids, including dinner vegan buffet and a music show, to farewell the year of monkey and welcome the new year of rooster.
Tet, lunar new year, is not only the expectant time for children to entertain, having new clothes, delicious foods and sweets, and receiving“li xi†(new year money) from elders, but also the opportunity for us to think of our roots. That is the spiritual value and deep emotion, the tradition of Vietnamese.
In order to create a sound playground for children, despite mountains of works to get through for new year, monks and Buddhists at Hoang Phap pagoda saved their time to prepare year-end party and music show for children. With many vegan dishes that were delicious and well decorated, children had a good time enjoying the entertainment with baby singers. The program had the contribution from famous baby singers as:“Kutin, Nguyet Thu, Thuy Binh, Mai Anh, Mai Chi Cong, Bao Nghi, Bao Khuong, Ku Bo, Minh Chien, Nha Thy, Nhu Y, Bao An, Ben Lee, Cao Phi, To Trung Tin, To Anh Thu, Nhat Anh, Ngoc Han, Thien Phuc, Kha Han, and so onâ€, with many songs of traditional spring in Viet Nam and the love to homeland. During the program, participants had the opportunity playing folk games and communicating with the singers.
Nowadays, there are many youngsters running after the exotic trend with online games and forgetting the spiritual values of the national tradition. Via the program, the monks helped children understand more about the Vietnamese Tet as well as maintain traditional identity of Vietnamese that has been built up for thousands of consecutive years by our ancestors.
On behalf of the Senior Venerable Abbot and Hoang Phap Sangha, Veverable Thich Tam Do sent each child a gift and a red package of “li xi†for new year. Blissful air flooded in the springy environment and on the faces of kids and their parents.
