Vesak day at Tay Khanh pagoda, Thai Binh province
Update: 10/05/2017
Vesak day (Buddha’s Birthday anniversary) was celebrated at Tay Khanh pagoda, Cao Mai village, Quang Hung commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province on Tuesday 9 May 2017.
On the occasion, Venerable Thich Tam Kinh, the abbot of Tay Khanh pagoda, invited Venerable Thich Tam Chanh to deliver a sermon to the whole assembly there. With an-hour-lecture about “Victoryâ€, the Venerable helped the attendants understand the true meaning of victory in order to think and behave rightly in our life.
There are two kinds of victory: the first one is to defeat opponents outside, the other to defeat opponents inside. Opponents outside are people and settings; opponents inside are the body and the mind. Despite the outside remarkable victory, the most superb one is to defeat our dishonorable thoughts, such as: jealousy, greediness, laziness. At our deep thought, we ought to know that the true meaning of victory is to help other opponents gain the victory although we may stop helping them. All were the main sermon on Vesak day at Tay Khanh pagoda.
After the sermon, Buddhists were instructed to follow the solemn ceremony of Vesak day: washing the Buddha’s statue, citing sutras, reciting Buddha’s name.
More than 600 VCDs Good Masters, Good Practitioners of Venerable Thich Chan Tinh were Dharma presents to the whole assembly.
The monks and Buddhists on trucks and motorbikes decorated beautifully and elaborately for Vesak day were so excited to celebrate the birthday of Buddha at night.
