Year End Retreat, a past year closing rite, giving Tet gifts at Dong Cao pagoda

 

 

First, monks of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Nghien instructed the mass meditation walking to contemplate their cultivation. After that, Junior Thich Tam Hung led the ritual of six-sense repentance, as well as review Five precepts, and performed the rite freeing creatures.
 
The ceremony officially was held in a pure and dignified atmosphere with many significant programs under the witness of Junior Thich Tam Nghien and Junior Thich Tam Hung.

 

After that, Buddhist Lien Hien had a statement of reason, introducing the program and participants. After that, Buddhist Lien Thanh announced a detailed report summarizing the affairs in the past year with the advantages that have been achieved and the shortcomings that remain. On behalf of attending practitioners, Buddhist Lien Hong represented the ashram, offering her gratitudes to the venerables.

 After that, Junior Thich Tam Nghien, Buddhist Tinh Hung awarded the Certificate of "Buddhism Family" to eight families with good achievements in studying and protecting the Three Jewels, and awarded 04 certificates of merit to Buddhists diligently, achieving excellent results in the past year.
 
Then, the Abbotr had dharma words to the mass. He praised the families and individuals who have diligently practiced and enthusiastically protected Three Jewels in the past year; meanwhile, he encouraged the mass at present, trying to study and propagate the dharma to help the temple's affairs go up and Buddhism being more and more prosperous.
 
In the afternoon, the Abbot guided the participants to sit in silence; read Sigalovada sutra (Sutta on human morality), and recited the Buddha in walking meditation led by Buddhist Dieu Thang.

At 15:15 p.m, monks and Buddhists of Dong Cao Pagoda respectfully received a Dharma protector statue to support the temple ’s rituals. Under the witness of Junior Thich Tam Hung, Abbot of Dong Cao Pagoda, Venerable Thich Tam Nghien, and the mass, the ceremony took place to thank the Buddhas, then offer food to sentient beings of all kinds.
 
At the end of the practice day, monks and Buddhists at Dong Cao Pagoda gave more than 35 gift portions (more than 400,000 VND each) to disadvantaged people to welcome the Lunar New Year (Year of Cat). After that, Buddhists and residents together build Tet models and receive a gift of Dharma.
